In response to the salary increase and the collection of fees, hotel entrepreneurs will raise rates for 2025.

The president of the Association of Hotels of the Center and South, Raúl Andrade Angulo, assured that businessmen in the sector in the southern area of Quintana Roo will have to adjust their rates, raising prices in their services, in response to the salary increase at the federal level and the collection of fees.

In this sense, he explained that it is one of the measures that hoteliers must take to avoid reducing their workforce and resorting to layoffs, an increase that is set in proportion to the level of inflation in the country.

On the one hand, the business representative said that these will serve so that the hotels in Bacalar, Chetumal and Mahahual can maintain their operations, in the face of an economic panorama that will present difficulties for the sector, however, they foresee a good year.

“We must prepare ourselves to face the challenges that come with the economic conditions that will prevail in the country,” said Andrade Angulo.

He also added that they have taken into consideration the increase in the minimum wage for workers at the federal level, of 12 percent, the rise in the price of gasoline, adjustments to the collection of state rights and other tax payments.

Regarding how much the rates could increase, he specified that each hotelier would determine the adjustments that he will make, taking into consideration the competitiveness that exists in his area and the level of supply and demand.

Therefore, he clarified that there is no established percentage increase, the businessmen of the sector will also analyze the impact of the price increases that are observed at the beginning of each year.

Although he did not rule out that some hoteliers will maintain the same rates, with the objective of not losing the possibility of attracting guests, despite the economic blow this may represent.

The Association of Hotels of the Center and South is made up of businessmen who have lodging centers in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Jose Maria Morelos, Bacalar, Grand Costa Maya and Chetumal.
