A few meters from the municipal cemetery of Nacajuca, Tabasco, several residents reported the discovery of several coolers and plastic bags containing human remains. At the scene they also found a poster with a message attributed to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

“Whoever is not here will end up like this,” could be read in part of the threatening message alluding to a criminal boss of the CJNG, identified as ‘Mr. 88’.

The body of at least one person was dismembered and distributed in four Styrofoam coolers and a box with plastic grids. Unofficial versions indicate that two other victims would have been located inside the plastic bags, but this information has not been confirmed by any authority.

Police elements were transferred to the crime scene, on Ignacio Ramírez Street, in order to establish a security perimeter while awaiting forensic services. At the time of this publication, the identity of the victim or victims located in Nacajuca is unknown, as well as the circumstances in which their execution occurred.

It should be noted that ‘Mr. 88’ is the leader of the CJNG in Tabasco who was credited with distributing king cakes and toys to the population of Macuspana in recent days. The pseudonym of this same character was the one that was captured on a banner that the cartel abandoned in front of a kindergarten in this same municipality in June 2024. On that occasion, the message was placed next to three decapitated bodies.

Violent day in Tabasco

Shortly before the discovery of the human remains in Nacajuca was announced, citizen reports denounced the deprivation of liberty of a person in the town of Guatacalca, belonging to said demarcation. On the morning of January 14, unidentified subjects threw the body of a man from a moving vehicle in this same community.

Around nine o’clock at night on January 13, a shootout took place near the Villahermosa Sports City. The attack targeted a unit of the Secretariat of Public Safety and Protection (SSPC) that was stationed in the area.

Later, the authorities suffered another armed attack on the Villahermosa-La Isla highway, which left one police officer dead. Through its official communication channels, the Government of Tabasco reported the start of investigations into this attack, which also left three officers injured, who received medical attention and are in stable condition.
