Puerto Vallarta inaugurates a new direct flight to New York, operated by Alaska Airlines. This link will strengthen the tourism offer and the economic development of the region.
The route, which will begin with four weekly flights, will be operated by Boeing 737-900 aircraft with capacity for 178 passengers. The flights are scheduled to depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, adding a total of 712 additional seats per week on this connection between New York and Puerto Vallarta.
This new option responds to the growing interest of international tourists in the beaches of Jalisco, including the jewels of the Costalegre.
During the reception of the inaugural flight, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretary of Tourism, highlighted the importance of this route to boost tourism and local commerce. “When we open new routes we talk about an opportunity for tourism development, but also commercial and social,” she emphasized.
He also highlighted that Jalisco is home to two of the five most important airports in Mexico, consolidating itself as a key hub in national air connectivity.
Cryshtian Amador Lizardi, Director of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, also welcomed this initiative, noting that 47% of flights from this destination have the United States as their origin or destination. In 2024, the airport recorded a historic record of 6.8 million passengers, a milestone that reflects its growing relevance.
Miguel Arreola, Alaska Airlines Station Chief in Puerto Vallarta, stressed that this new route reaffirms the airline’s commitment to offering more options to passengers.
“Today we add New York to the cities directly connected to Puerto Vallarta, reaching a total of 11 routes from the United States by 2025,” he said.
