The State Government, headed by President David Monreal Ávila, through the Secretary of Tourism, announced the opening of the new Zacatecas-Oakland air route, by the Volaris airline.

This route will begin operating on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, with tickets already available on the Volaris platforms; flights will take place on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, in order to facilitate mobility and connection between both destinations.

Meeting with the media, the Secretary of Tourism, Le Roy Barragán Ocampo, accompanied by the company’s executives, announced that tickets for this destination are already being sold.

He assured that this route has a special meaning, since “our migrants have contributed with their labor force, for decades, in this region. This reflects the airline’s confidence in the people of Zacatecas.”

Jorge Roberto García Rojas, Director of Distribution and Market Development for Volaris, thanked the administration of Governor David Monreal Ávila for the facilities provided for this collaboration.

Volaris, he said, which began operating in Zacatecas in 2009, has transported 2.7 million people on routes such as Tijuana, San José, California, Chicago, Midway and Los Angeles, and now Oakland is added to its destinations.

This new route is considered a key connection for the migrant community, an approach that the airline seeks to support.

Highlighting that Zacatecas is recognized as an attractive destination for its visitors, with the distinction of Cultural Heritage of Humanity, García Rojas especially highlighted the warmth and hospitality of its people, characteristics that make the entity a welcoming and memorable place for those who visit it.

The opening of the Zacatecas-Oakland air route promises to strengthen ties between both regions, by promoting cultural and tourist exchange.

This announcement reflects the commitment of the Government of Zacatecas to promote connectivity and development in the state.
