This weekend, a woman from Mexico City became a trending topic on social media after being arrested for taking nude photos on the La Paz boardwalk. The young woman, identified as Olga “N,” also walked around naked in other parts of Baja California Sur, including the famous arch of Cabo San Lucas.
According to her posts on social media, Olga considers herself a nudism activist. After being arrested in the city of La Paz for climbing a sculpture on the boardwalk and stripping naked, she shared the following message with her followers:
“Guess who was arrested for simply existing? Why is the human body censored, but not violence? Nudity is not offensive, it is natural. Let’s stop the shame, reclaim our freedom and normalize what is human,” she said.
The woman also reacted to the memes that compared the actions of the police when confronting her for being naked, with the way they treat street vendors on the boardwalk.
“Nudism is a form of personal expression, not a crime. Neither is being a corn seller, someone who works hard to earn a living selling corn. We all deserve respect,” she said.
