The Government of the State of Zacatecas has presented a Strategic Road Plan to minimize the road impact during the construction of the Elevated Viaduct, an integral part of the Mobility for Well-Being (Mobi) project. This plan seeks to efficiently manage the vehicular flow on the Metropolitan Boulevard during the construction period.
State authorities, through the General Secretariat of Government and the Secretariat of Public Works, have established that construction work will be carried out in three shifts, with heavy machinery operations scheduled exclusively during the night and early morning to minimize disruption.
Work has already begun on the drainage and drinking water lines, which has required the reduction to one lane in each direction on Metropolitan Boulevard, specifically in the area near the ISSSTE clinic and Secondary School No. 1.
The Traffic Safety Police has designed a mobility plan that divides the city into five strategic sectors, each with specific alternate routes:
Sector 1 is directed to Bicentennial Boulevard (formerly Heavy Traffic), which helps cross the city of Zacatecas from north to south and vice versa, and where capital neighborhoods such as La Escondida, Huerta Vieja, Europa, Colinas del Padre, Estrella de Oro and El Orito converge, as well as the entire downtown area of Guadalupe.
From Sector 2, to go towards Ciudad Administrativa and Galerías, colonies and subdivisions such as Cañada de La Bufa, Dependencias Federales, Lomas del Consuelo, Tres Cruces, Arboledas, El Carmen and El Salero are planned, which can take García Salinas Avenue, Pedro Coronel Avenue and Solidaridad Causeway towards the Vetagrande highway, El Bote road and Manuel Felguérez Boulevard.
Sector 3 includes colonies such as Villas de Guadalupe, Las Orquídeas, Villa Fontana, África, Paseos de San Agustín, Buganvilias, La Fe, Olimpia, SPAUAZ, La Condesa, Martínez Domínguez, Camino Real, San Isidro and Bonito Pueblo, and can travel on Siglo XXI road, San Simón road, Solidaridad Causeway, Vetagrande highway, El Bote road or Manuel Felguérez Boulevard.
For Sector 4, which includes neighborhoods such as Lázaro Cárdenas, Díaz Ordaz, Mexicapan, Centro, La Bufa and Hidráulica, which are heading towards Galerías, Ciudad Administrativa, Poder Judicial or the UAZ Siglo XXI Campus, residents can circulate through Calzada Solidaridad, Paseo Díaz Ordaz and exit through the Zacatecas municipal presidency.
And Sector 5, which includes the area of La Encantada, Pánfilo Natera, Mecánicos, Mercado de Abastos and Lomas de la Pimienta, can circulate through Avenida Nezahualcóyotl, Vialidad El Orito, Calzada Luis Moya, Obrero Mundial, Jesús Reyes Heroles and García Salinas.
To reinforce these measures, 40 additional elements of the Traffic Safety Police have been deployed. In addition, a preferential lane has been established for public transportation and emergency vehicles. Authorities have coordinated with public transport concessionaires the placement of units at strategic points to facilitate the transfer of students and workers.
Authorities emphasize that this sectorization plan is flexible and may be modified according to the needs that arise during the development of the works. Citizens are advised to familiarize themselves with the five sectors and their alternate routes to optimize their daily travel.
