More than half a ton of cocaine valued at more than 160 million pesos seized in Querétaro

In Querétaro, security elements seized more than half a ton of drugs in the municipality of Cadereyta, a substance that, according to the authorities’ estimates, would be worth millions.

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported on the security actions carried out from January 10 to 12. There were seizures of substances in Baja California and Guerrero, as well as arrests in other parts of the country.

It was in Querétaro that military agents, national guardsmen and members of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) seized a vehicle, in addition to the seizure of more than 600 kilograms of cocaine, which represents an impact on organized crime groups of millions of pesos.

“In Cadereyta, elements of the Mexican Army, GN and FGR seized 648 kilos of cocaine and a vehicle. The cost of the seized drugs is 161 million pesos,” is part of the report of the institution headed by Omar García Harfuch.

So far there is no data that links the seized drugs to any organized crime group.

In addition to the narcotics found in Cadereyta, there were also actions in Ezequiel Montes de Oca, a site where a search was carried out after which two people were arrested who had a dozen long weapons, 150 magazines, cartridges, drugs and a vehicle.

All of the above and the property were seized by military personnel, elements of the National Guard, as well as state and municipal police.

Meanwhile, in Querétaro, security agents arrested three people who were carrying doses of a drug (the type of narcotic was not specified), money and a property. Regarding these actions, the authorities detail that it was a loss of 17 thousand 903 pesos.

Criminal groups in Querétaro

In the state governed by Mauricio Kuri, activities of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) have been detected, according to the map of regional cartels published by the State Commission on Human Rights (CEDH) of Michoacán in a document that contains part of the security strategy of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

It should be noted that the National Survey of Victimization and Perception of Public Security (ENVIPE) of 2024 shows that for the population over 18 years of age, drug trafficking is the seventh most important problem in the state.
