Mazatlán should be promoted as a tourist brand independent of the rest of the state, to catapult itself like other beach destinations worldwide, such as Acapulco, Cancun or Vallarta, considered Francisca Cázares Oliveros, president of the National Chamber of Commerce in Mazatlán.

The chamber leader indicated that we should not wait for the State Government, through the Sectur, to invest in promoting the destination, but that it should be done from the local level.

“We need to talk about the benefits of the municipality, have our own networks, manage what Mazatlán is, so that the name of Mazatlán is known worldwide as there is Acapulco, Cancun, Vallarta, that it is not managed by the state, it is managed by the municipality, because we are talking about a municipality, we do not have to wait for the state to want to invest in a website,” she considered.
Promoting it as a tourist brand would allow it to stand out from the competition and attract more tourists through effective promotion.
Working together

Given the situation that the industry is experiencing due to the secondary effects of violence in the state, with hotel occupancy rates below those estimated, even in high seasons, Cázares Oliveros pointed out that it is time to work together, all sectors of tourism and authorities, for the common good.

He added that if the City Council and the Sectur invite them to the tourism promotion that will take place soon, they are willing to cooperate, without leaving aside the independent project that the Chamber has already organized for a gastronomic show and work meetings in Mexico City next month.

“It is a project that the Chamber of Commerce is bringing very independently of what the municipality is going to do or wants to do, working for the good of the municipality does not have to prevent us from joining another project,” he added.
