Actor Arath de la Torre has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to a scam. He took to social media to warn the public about the fraud he experienced.

The incident occurred when Arath attempted to book a room at the Dreams Resort and Spa Riviera Maya hotel online. Initially, everything seemed legitimate.

“They contacted me via WhatsApp, we negotiated, and I made the transfer,” he explained.

However, after making the payment via SPEI, the supposed hotel agents blocked him, leaving him with no way to recover his money.

“I never heard from them again. I don’t know anything, and the bank obviously won’t give me back the money because it was a SPEI transfer,” he added.

The “La Casa de los Famosos 2” actor expressed his sadness over the situation and shared his experience to prevent others from falling for similar scams.

He also called on hotels to implement stricter measures with their platforms and communication channels.

“The hotel should take great care of these things. I want to report this and expose it to public opinion because hotels should also take responsibility for these issues,” he said.

So far, Dreams Resort and Spa Riviera Maya has not issued a statement about the incident.

Recently, actor Germán Ortega also revealed that he was scammed by an interior remodeling company. He hired someone through social media who visited his house to take measurements and draw up designs. They then asked for an advance of 230,000 pesos for materials. When it was time to start the work, the supplier complained to be in a medical emergency and redirected him to other members of the company, who also did not respond. Germán tried to contact them again but received no response.

Actress Cynthia Klitbo was also a victim of a scam last year when people pretended to be employees of her bank and emptied her savings account.
