Agents of the State Investigation Police have arrested José Manuel D.V., a teacher at Preparatory School Number 2 of the Uady, on charges of aggravated rape against a minor. The complaint was filed by the victim’s mother with the Specialized Investigation and Litigation Unit for Sexual Crimes.
According to the investigation, the teacher showed interest in the student from the beginning of the school year, offering her academic support to gain her trust. He later followed her on social media and, in September 2023, invited her to have coffee, promising to help her pass his subject.
In October, the student accepted the invitation. The teacher, wearing a face mask and cap, took her to a motel where he allegedly abused her. These incidents reportedly occurred multiple times, with the teacher threatening the student to keep silent.
The victim eventually reported the abuse to the school management, leading her family to file a formal complaint. The case gained attention on social media in April of the following year when the victim shared her story online, revealing that her abuser was a recently married man with a newborn. She also mentioned other minors in similar situations and posted screenshots of their conversations.
The First Control Judge of the Oral Justice Center of Mérida issued an arrest warrant for José Manuel D.V., who now faces charges of aggravated rape, with a potential sentence ranging from 8 to 25 years in prison. The suspect will remain in custody during legal proceedings, with his status to be determined next Friday.
