The Royal Beach Club Cozumel initiative marks a significant milestone in the island’s tourism landscape, enhancing its reputation for natural beauty and its ability to innovate and meet modern tourism demands.

Royal Caribbean executives recently met with Cozumel’s municipal president, José Luis Chacón Méndez, to present their vision and work plan focused on the island’s tourism development. They emphasized Cozumel’s strategic importance as a key Caribbean port and reaffirmed their commitment to a long-term partnership.

Jay Schneider, senior vice president and director of Product Innovation, highlighted the company’s ongoing investment in Cozumel, marking a crucial step in regional tourism. One of the main projects announced was the Royal Beach Club Cozumel, an innovative development set to open in 2026. This will be the second beach club in Royal Caribbean’s global collection, offering unique experiences that blend Cozumel’s natural beauty with recreational activities, Mexican cuisine, and exclusive cultural options. The total investment for this project is USD 75 million, underscoring the company’s dedication to strengthening its presence on the island.

Municipal president José Luis Chacón Méndez noted that the project’s vision goes beyond traditional sun and beach tourism by promoting local traditions, history, and adventures. The goal is for tourists to experience a deeper connection with the island’s cultural richness, thereby boosting the local economy.

Cozumel has proven to be a strategic point for high-quality tourist experiences within Royal Caribbean’s global investments. With over four decades of receiving cruises from the company, the island is a benchmark for Caribbean tourism, attracting visitors worldwide seeking paradisiacal beaches and exclusive activities. The choice of Cozumel for the Royal Beach Club Cozumel reinforces its significance for both the cruise line and Mexican tourism.

Located on the island’s western coast, this development will be a private space designed to provide first-class services to Royal Caribbean passengers, maintaining a sustainable approach in harmony with the natural environment. The project reflects a trend in the tourism industry towards more personalized and exclusive experiences, aiming to strengthen collaboration with local communities.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to work with Cozumel’s government and community to ensure the destination remains attractive for the cruise line’s passengers and global tourism. The Royal Beach Club Cozumel initiative marks a turning point in the island’s tourism offering, showcasing its ability to innovate and adapt to modern tourism demands.

This collaboration between Royal Caribbean and the local government demonstrates how strategic partnerships can transform destinations into unique and memorable experiences for travelers.
