On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 15, the crash of a small plane was reported on the border between Nayarit and Jalisco. This caused emergency teams to go to the area.

The social media account of the State Coordination of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Nayarit confirmed the report of an airplane accident, specifically in the vicinity of the town of Puente de Camotlán, in addition to the fact that emergency personnel were mobilized to the site.

“Teams from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, through the State Police, Nayarit Firefighters and the Condor Unit, are mobilized to the area to carry out search, rescue and care work,” they shared on their Facebook account.

First reports from local media indicate that there are people dead from the accident. The crash of the unit was reported on social media.

So far there is no data on what caused the plane crash. Reports from the media outlet Milenio indicate that five people were traveling in the vehicle, whose identity is unknown.

Images showing an accident are circulating on social media, however part of the shared material belongs to other events. Uncorroborated reports indicate that there are at least four people dead, but official reports do not detail whether there are fatalities.

As of 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the Nayarit authorities had not shared additional information about the accident.

One year after another plane crash in the state

On January 23, 2024, a small plane crashed in Tepic and after the accident the vehicle caught fire. At the time, the head of the State Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection, Jorge Benito Rodríguez Martínez, spoke of four deaths.

“At first glance, there are four dead, three men and one woman. The plane was coming here to Tepic, coming from Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico,” he told the media. Part of the graphic material shared in January of last year is used by various media to illustrate recent actions.

On December 22, the crash of a plane caused the death of seven people in Jalisco. On that occasion, Civil Protection Jalisco shared images of what happened in a wooded area.

The license plate of the plane was XB -MLO, the same one that has been circulated to illustrate what recently happened in Nayarit, despite the fact that they are different accidents and in different states.
