Traveling to Zacatecas just got easier with Volaris’ announcement of a new flight route connecting Zacatecas International Airport and Oakland, California. This new route, set to begin on July 2, 2025, will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, providing another gateway to the United States for Zacatecan and migrant passengers.

Flights from Zacatecas will depart at 9:00 a.m. and arrive in Oakland at 11:40 a.m. The return flight will leave Oakland at 1:10 p.m. and land in Zacatecas around 5:00 p.m.

With the addition of this new route, General Leobardo C. Ruiz International Airport in Zacatecas now offers direct flights to several key destinations in the United States, including Chicago, San Jose, and Los Angeles. Currently, only Volaris, Aeromexico, and American Airlines operate flights to and from Zacatecas, primarily connecting with the United States and some locations within Mexico.

Volaris offers flights to Tijuana, Chicago, San Jose, and Los Angeles, while Aeromexico connects passengers to Mexico City International Airport (AICM). American Airlines covers the route from Zacatecas to Dallas, Texas.

The Zacatecas Airport is located on the Pan-American Highway, Zacatecas-Fresnillo section, Víctor Rosales Calera. Travelers can reach the airport by taxi or by taking a bus from Zacatecas to Fresnillo and asking them to be dropped off at the airport stop, from where they will need to walk a short distance.
