Five Spanish-speaking cities, including Mexico City, are ranked first as the best cities in the world to combine work and personal life as an expat.

This is what InterNations, an online community of international workers, reports. It surveyed more than 12,500 expats to rank 53 metropolises based on their experiences living and working there.

Based on the survey, which offers information on five areas – quality of life, ease of settling in, working abroad, personal finances and essential aspects for an expat – it compiled the Expat City Ranking 2024.

Valencia stands out on the list for 2024, having taken first place, rising that year as the best city to live as an expat. Two other Spanish cities complete the top three. These are Malaga and Alicante, in second and third place, respectively.

According to the publication, the first stands out for the ease of settling in and the second for the ease of obtaining a home it offers. In the top ten of the list there is another Spanish city, Madrid, which occupies the seventh position.

Latin America is also represented in the top 10 of the ranking, with Panama City in fourth place and Mexico City, which is positioned as the fifth favorite of expatriates worldwide.

The list is completed by the Emirati city of Ras al Khaimah (sixth place), the Thai capital, Bangkok (eighth) and the also Emirati cities Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
