In a series of coordinated operations, nine individuals were arrested, and over 2 tons of cocaine, three boats, fuel, and illicit cargo were seized off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. The operations were conducted by the Security Cabinet institutions, including the Navy (Semar), National Defense Secretariat (Defense), Attorney General’s Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), with support from an ocean patrol, a helicopter, and two airplanes.
The seized cocaine, equivalent to approximately 4,380 doses, has an estimated value of 561 million 187 thousand 500 pesos.
In the first operation, 155 nautical miles away, naval personnel seized a smaller vessel, 16 drums, and a tanker containing 1,550 liters of fuel, arresting three crew members. The second operation, 200 nautical miles southwest, resulted in the seizure of a smaller vessel, 2,190 kilos of cocaine, four drums, and a tanker with 450 liters of fuel, along with the arrest of three individuals. The third operation, 103 nautical miles south, saw the seizure of a smaller vessel, 26 drums, and a tanker with approximately 1,420 liters of fuel, and the arrest of three crew members.
The detained individuals were informed of their constitutional rights and, along with the seized items, were transferred to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, to be placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status and integrate the investigation file.
The Security Cabinet institutions reiterated their commitment to maintaining coordinated efforts to ensure peace and security in Mexico.
