2025 is a promising year for cultural tourism in the state, with activities that will consolidate Oaxaca as a national and international benchmark for cultural wealth, tradition and hospitality.
With the official image “Lazos de Fraternidad” by the plastic artist Osmar López Gallegos as a symbol of union and diversity, La Guelaguetza 2025 promises to be an unprecedented cultural spectacle.
This work, in the style of magical realism, evokes the fraternity between the 16 ethnic groups and the Afro-Mexican people, interweaving colors and emblematic dances.
Its unveiling not only begins preparations for the celebrations on July 21 and 28, but also puts Oaxaca on the map of international fairs such as FITUR in Spain and ITB in Berlin, strengthening its global positioning.
Mitla and Huitzo also rise as epicenters of local festivities that combine gastronomy, culture and tradition.
The first Feria de los Siete Moles in Mitla, to be held on February 1 and 2, will offer a unique culinary experience, where traditional cooks will present dishes that have transcended generations.
For its part, Huitzo will host the innovative event “Tequios de la Memoria”, a project that rescues historical archives and community traditions, leaving a significant cultural legacy.
In addition, the tenth edition of the Encuentro Nudista in Zipolite reaffirms its status as the only official nudist beach in Mexico, standing out for its commitment to bodily freedom and connection with nature.
More than 60,000 visitors are expected to enjoy activities such as parades, calendas, concerts and workshops that celebrate both naturism and local traditions.
In response to challenges, such as unfair competition from lodging platforms and informal agencies, the Ministry of Tourism announced measures to protect local service providers.
In addition, the commitment to responsible tourism was underlined, promoting environmental conservation at mass events. 2025 is shaping up to be a year where Oaxaca, with its combination of festivities, gastronomy, art and nature, will not only reinforce its cultural identity, but also solidify its place as the cultural heart of Mexico.
Every visitor will be welcomed with open arms, invited to be part of a legacy that celebrates the best of Oaxacan roots and traditions.
