This February 14th, Zacatecas will host its first-ever traditional street party for singles, offering music, mezcal, and fun, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful Historic Center of the Zacatecan capital.
Organized by the Zacatecas Tourism Secretariat (Secturz), the event was announced on social media with the tagline, “If you don’t go out with a partner, no one can take away what you’ve danced…”
The street party will kick off at 7:00 p.m. in the Alameda de Zacatecas and will proceed through the main alleys and squares of the capital.
For those still searching for their soulmate, this event promises a unique experience. The callejoneada will feature drum music, the distinctive flavor of Zacatecan mezcal, and a festive atmosphere that only Zacatecas can provide.
What is a Callejoneada in Zacatecas?
Callejoneadas in Zacatecas are more than just tours; they are a tradition rooted in the state’s mining history. Originally, mine workers celebrated payday by parading through the streets with music, mezcal, and joy. The drumbeats, inspired by the miners’ tools, brought these celebrations to life, often lasting until dawn.
Over time, these festive walks evolved into a tourist attraction that blends history, music, and social interaction. Today, callejoneadas are one of the most iconic activities in Zacatecas and a must-experience for visitors.
During the tour, participants will explore iconic alleys such as Callejón del Indio Triste and Callejón de las Campanas, all while enjoying the lively notes of the Zacatecan drumbeat. Additionally, guides will offer shots of artisanal mezcal made in the state.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a unique and festive Valentine’s Day in Zacatecas!
