Querétaro seeks to expand its hotel offering

The state could attract high-end hotel investment, the state government announced.

As part of the second day of activities of a local delegation visiting Madrid, Spain, public servants from Querétaro held a meeting with hotel representatives and the consulting firm LeadPro Advisors, with the purpose of managing an investment in the sector.

Regarding the possibility of carrying out a hotel project, the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, met with the president of LeadPro Advisors, Luis Parra, to whom he explained the economic and tourism opportunities that characterize the state.

The meeting also addressed the projects of greatest impact that are being developed in the state; and they expressed interest in the actions of the consulting firm to strengthen tourism activity.

According to the state government, the consulting firm has more than 30 years of experience in consulting in various sectors, specializes in tourism and offers services for business management.

As part of the activities carried out on the tour, the special edition of México Desconocido was presented at the Mexican embassy in Madrid – in the company of the Mexican Ambassador to Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel – focusing on the gastronomy of Querétaro.

The edition is made up of a gastronomic guide that includes research on dishes and recommendations of establishments, the local government reported in a press release.

At the event, representatives of the Association of Querétaro Chefs offered a gastronomic sample of traditional dishes. The governor spoke of local cuisine as a way to learn about the history, culture and vision of the state.

Hotel offering

In the state there are around 1,404 lodging establishments in 15 of the 18 municipalities, according to the State Economic Yearbook 2024.

Of that number, 55.6% are furnished apartments and houses with hotel services; 24.6% are hotels; 13.4% are cabins, villas and similar businesses; 3.8% are camps and recreational lodges; 1.9% are motels; 0.7% are pensions and guest houses.

The municipalities of Tequisquiapan and San Juan del Río, located in the south of the state, concentrate the majority of the establishments, with more than 300 sites in each; in the city of Querétaro there are 214, Ezequiel Montes 178 and Corregidora 163, etc.

At the end of 2024, the entity registered a hotel occupancy of 60% on average, exceeding 2023, which was around 59.7%, according to information from the state’s Tourism Secretariat.
