The Real Madrid Foundation has opened a new soccer school in Tulum, Quintana Roo, to support young Mexican soccer players. This initiative aims to help local youth achieve their dreams of becoming professional soccer players.

The school, located at the German International School in Tulum Country Club, was inaugurated with the presence of former Real Madrid player and current Merengues Foundation ambassador, Álvaro Arbeloa, along with Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama. Encarna Piñero, CEO of Grupo Piñero, and Álvaro Moya, the group’s general director, also attended the event.

Arbeloa expressed his commitment to the youth of the region, stating, “This project has proven to be a true tool for transformation through sport for the youth of the communities of Quintana Roo.”

Real Madrid Scholarships in Quintana Roo

The Real Madrid Foundation plans to provide scholarships to a portion of the participants. Arbeloa mentioned that the program currently has 105 participants in Tulum, with hopes to increase this number to 150 by the end of the project. The agreement includes full scholarships for 10% of the children in the program, with a goal of providing scholarships to 20% to 30% of participants for the 2025-2026 season.

Governor Mara Lezama added, “The alliance will offer scholarships to young people in vulnerable situations from various communities in our state. Additionally, Grupo Piñero is working on the first women’s soccer league to promote equal opportunities.”

In April, three teams from the program will represent Tulum in the Real Madrid Foundation’s World Challenge 2025, providing a unique experience of learning and camaraderie for the young athletes.
