The face of a wave of deportations from the United States to Mexico is slowly beginning to show, as within the second day of Donald Trump’s term, a strong contingent of compatriots arrived in Matamoros and Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
On Tuesday morning, three trucks from Brownsville, Texas, crossed the international bridge to arrive in Matamoros with 200 deportees.
The group was taken to the shelter that the Navy is setting up at the “Pedro Salazar Maldonado” sports unit.
The legal director of the municipality of Matamoros, Manuel Perusquía Ramírez, explained that they are part of a program that was recently changed by the United States government and the National Institute of Migration.
He explained that during the week, the North American authorities deport small numbers of between 20 and 40 people, but the Institute of Migration requested that it be done in groups of up to 200 people in order to be able to attend to them and proceed to transfer them in buses to their different cities.
They can go to Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Coahuila or states further up,” he explained.
Similarly, it also happened in the city of Reynosa, when at around nine in the morning a contingent of 48 people arrived at the offices of the National Migration Institute to be attended to and immediately transferred to buses to take them to their destination.
Before being sent, they were checked to see if they had received their vaccines such as TD, influenza, pneumococcus and hepatitis.
Tamaulipas, like other states on the southern border of the United States, is preparing for a massive wave of deportees and repatriates after the threats that Donald Trump made in his offer to the Anglo-Saxon country regarding immigration policy.
The most recent action was the closure of the CBP One application, which caused groups of Colombians who were waiting for their appointment with the North American authorities to fall into despair and in a tumult tried to cross, although the National Guard prevented them.
