Cold front number 24 continues to cause damage in much of the country. In the state of Hidalgo, unusual snowfalls were recorded in five municipalities (in the Otomí-Tepehua mountain range and in the high mountains such as Agua Blanca, Acaxochitlán, San Agustín Metzquititlán and Zacualtipán), while in Veracruz, snow and freezing rain were reported in the municipalities of Las Vigas and Chiconquiaco, near Cofre de Perote.
The General Directorate of Epidemiology reported that during the 2024-2025 cold season, which began on October 6 and ends on March 15, 7 deaths have been confirmed nationwide, of which 6 were due to carbon monoxide poisoning and one due to hypothermia.
Two deaths were recorded in Chihuahua and San Luis Potosí. While in Puebla, Sonora and Veracruz one death was reported in each state.
Regarding school absenteeism due to the cold, in Puebla, the state government announced the suspension of classes for today in almost the entire state. Only the Mixteca region, which borders Oaxaca, was left out of this provision, because a drop in the thermometer is not expected.
