A family lived a double nightmare when they were chased by a vehicle with armed men in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, without receiving help from the local Transit authority and the 911 emergency number.
A video shows how a family traveling on Colosio Boulevard was chased by a private black vehicle with Texas license plates, in which armed men were traveling and ordering them to stop.
The family did not agree and sought support because they saw a Traffic patrol on the road, whose officer, upon realizing the situation, ignored them, so the distressed driver of the car being chased moved forward, while the screams of a woman can be heard asking him to run over one of the armed men in order to escape.
Once the family managed to move forward, they made a call to the 911 emergency number, where they were answered without giving them an effective solution.
“Do not hang up, stay on the line, but please do not stop,” said the operator who answered the request for assistance by phone.
Nuevo Laredo Municipality suspends traffic
Without specifying exactly what day this event occurred, the Municipality of Nuevo Laredo announced that an investigation was opened and suspended the traffic agent involved.
“Regarding the traffic officer who appears in the video, we inform that he was suspended from his duties while the investigation is resolved,” he detailed in a statement.
“We inform that the corresponding authorities are already working on addressing the case to clarify the facts and proceed according to the law thanks to your complaint to 911,” he added.
The Morena municipal authority condemned the events exposed in this video. “In relation to the regrettable events disseminated through a video on social networks, the Government of Nuevo Laredo expresses its solidarity with the affected people,” he said.
The municipality said it rejects any act of illegality that violates the security of citizens. “We reaffirm our commitment to work for a city where respect and trust in institutions prevail,” it said.
According to citizens who live in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, the city where this family was persecuted, in recent weeks there has been little presence of federal forces such as the Army or the Navy, with the National Guard carrying out most of the surveillance at international bridges.
