Due to the low temperatures that were recorded in the first minutes of Tuesday, the international bridges that connect Tamaulipas and Nuevo León with the United States were temporarily closed because the pavement is frosted and the mobility of cargo vehicles endangers the route.

In Tamaulipas, one of the bridges that was affected is “World Trade”, while in Nuevo León it is Colombia, which are used by heavy cargo vehicles for the import and export of merchandise
Since the season, now on the way to the “World Trade” bridge, the so-called “black ice” could be detected, and it is characterized by being very dangerous on the asphalt because it is not detected and can cause vehicles to skid and become uncontrolled.
In videos provided by trailer operators, it was found that a considerable number of tractor-trailers hit the steel and granite barriers when they could not stop them; although it was not serious.
Customs said that for the moment heavy vehicle traffic will be suspended and they will have to wait until further notice.
Nuevo Laredo, as well as other cities on the Tamaulipas border, woke up at -1° and 0 degrees Celsius. However, the thermal sensation could reach -3.
Given this situation, the State Civil Protection Directorate sent several alerts since Monday.
One of them confirmed that the suspension of classes on the northern border continued and that municipalities in the center and the highlands were also added to them.

Likewise, civil protection announced the opening of shelters for people who cannot protect themselves from these inclement weather.
For its part, the Ministry of Health urged the population to dress warmly and not expose themselves to low temperatures if it is not necessary.
