Three cities in Sonora drastically reduced their levels of insecurity, under the strategy implemented by the administration of Governor Alfonso Durazo.
According to the National Survey of Urban Public Security (ENSU), the perception of insecurity has decreased in the municipalities of Hermosillo, Nogales and Cajeme, the latter being the one that presented the greatest decrease, with 18.4 percent.
The strategy, which is implemented among the different corporations that make up the State Security Board, has achieved that, in the period from December 2023 to December 2024, there has been a reduction of 18.4 percent in the rates and perception of insecurity of the Cajeme residents, going from 85.1 percent to 69.4 percent.
The coordinated work between authorities of the Sonora government with the Federal government has managed to reverse the trend in terms of insecurity in the municipality.
These actions have allowed Hermosillo to record a reduction in the perception of insecurity among its inhabitants, from 46.9 percent to 45.3 percent, while in Nogales there was also a decrease, from 39.5 percent to 38.7 percent.
This demonstrates the constant effort of the institutions in that region in terms of security.
Meanwhile, Ciudad Obregón stands out at the national level for being the city with the lowest prevalence of conflicts or confrontations, with only 5.2 percent, considered to have the lowest percentage of households that are victims of theft, extortion or fraud, with only 10 percent.
Given the results obtained in the fight against insecurity, Governor Durazo reiterated his commitment to continue with the implementation of the security strategy, as well as with the reduction of violent acts in the different municipalities of the state, with the objective of safeguarding the integrity of families in Sonora.
These developments underline the commitment and effectiveness of local authorities in improving the safety and well-being of citizens.
