The president approached her to listen to her with a smile, however, she did not say a word.
“I want to tell you, Madam President, that in Oaxaca women have no justice.”
She also displayed a banner that read: “I surrender, Governor. Here my fight ends. Free Vera Carrizal. You win because in Oaxaca it is not time for women. Welcome, Madam President.”
The attendees at the event interrupted Elena Ríos’ protest with shouts of “President, President” and later “Governor, Governor,” in support of Salomón Jara who was also present on the stage.
María Elena Ríos denounces that her attacker is not in the hospital
Saxophonist María Elena Ríos warned on Wednesday, January 22 that her attacker, businessman and former local deputy Juan Vera Carrizal, was not hospitalized, as had been reported. “I just left the hospital where Vera Carrizal is supposedly and she is not there,” she posted on her X account.
Minutes later, in front of the Santa Anita Hospital, where she was allegedly being treated for serious illnesses, she reiterated that Vera Carrizal was free and that if there were no police at the place it was because he was not there.
“The government of Oaxaca re-victimized me, they said I was lying, but they are the ones who are lying because political agreements were worth more than justice.”

After the saxophonist’s publication, at least three patrols went to the place that for several days remained unguarded, although in the official version “the pertinent and adequate measures were taken for her release.”
The Superior Court of Justice of the State of Oaxaca detailed that, according to the information from the Trial Judge, the release took place on December 2 at the request of the director of the Tanivet Men’s Detention Center of the Secretariat of Public Security, who justified his request with a report from the doctor assigned to said Detention Center.
The attending physician, Ulises Pérez Carrera, said that his health was delicate and considered keeping the accused in the hospital. Then the staff of the prison and the SSPCO informed the judge that it was necessary for him to attend various studies and analyses and that once he was discharged he would be returned to prison, which the attending physician confirmed on January 10.
In the document, the doctor updates the health status of Vera Carrizal and points out at least 10 diagnoses: post-hemorrhoidectomy; cervical narrow canal syndrome; upper motor neuron syndrome and cognitive disorder under study; bleeding of the lower digestive tract; peptic acid disease secondary to the intake of NSAIDs; Parkinson’s syndrome; dementia syndrome; mixed disorder: anxiety and depression; irritable bowel syndrome and systemic arterial hypertension.
The doctor assured that laboratory tests, cabinet tests and evaluations of different specialties such as coloproctology; traumatology; neurosurgery and neurology were performed, but the document does not contain any annex to support them.
