After 23 years, Oaxaca will have a new road infrastructure to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, with a length of 169 kilometers, which will improve the mobility of people, products and services, thus becoming the engine of development in the south-southeast of Mexico.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, will be present at the opening of the Mitla-Tehuantepec superhighway this Friday, January 24.
This historic work, with an investment of 32,977 million pesos, will connect the state capital with this region in a shorter travel time, which will go from four and a half hours to two and a half hours, benefiting more than 1.4 million people.
In addition, it will promote the creation of thousands of jobs, which, together with the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), will trigger tourism and the integral and sustainable development of the entity.
According to local information, the type A2 road has a width of 12 meters, with two 3.5 meter lanes on each side, external shoulders of 2.5 meters, in addition to 20 junctions, 65 bridges, 15 vehicular underbridges, 10 tunnels, 14 viaducts and two toll booths.
It should be noted that, for the construction works, 460 machines were used and 3,100 people were employed.
The municipalities that will directly benefit are: San Pablo Villa de Mitla, San Lorenzo Albarradas, San Pedro and San Pablo Ayutla, Santo Domingo Tepuxtepec, San Pedro Quiatoni, San Juan Juquila Mixes, Nejapa de Madero, Santiago Lachiguiri, Santa Maria Jalapa del Marques and Santa Maria Mixtequilla.
