We are about to conclude January, to welcome February, which, despite being the shortest of all the months, is one of the most celebrated, due to some important dates, festivities and above all, carnivals that will take place both in the country and in Puebla, and in this note we are going to present them to you.

And it is that, in the second month of the year there are several celebrations and commemorations, such as Candlemas Day, in which families gather to eat traditional tamales and Valentine’s Day, a special date for friends and lovers.

However, depending on the lunar calendar and the day that Easter falls, the carnival season also arrives, as these always tend to take place between the months of February and March; this is how Carnival begins on the Thursday before Ash Wednesday.

If you are one of those who always look for new places to visit, or events to attend, then you cannot miss the carnivals and festivities that Puebla offers to locals and visitors during the month of February.

Cholula Carnival 2025

With more than 50 years of history, San Andrés Cholula is preparing for this carnival that year after year receives thousands of visitors for three consecutive weekends, starting this 2025 with the Pego de Bando and tentative date of February 16 and the well-known Mascaritas, on February 23, where the battalions walk the streets, visit cemeteries and make a small demonstration of costumes.

Dates: From February 8 to March 9.

San Lorenzo Teotipilco Carnival 2025

In the municipality of Tehuacán, there is the auxiliary council of San Lorenzo Teotipilco, which year after year dresses up for its traditional carnival and, according to what was announced by the FB site, San Lorenzo Teotipilco Carnival, this 2025 will only take place one day, in which several activities will be offered, including a dance at the 3 Marías Entertainment Center and the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Comparsa El Rey del Mambo.

Huejotzingo Carnival 2025

The iconic Huejotzingo Carnival 2025, celebrated in the magical municipality of the same name and with more than 150 years of history, has already begun since the beginning of January, filling the streets with gunpowder, joy and the vibrant color of traditional costumes, Sunday after Sunday, during the months of January and February, so you can’t miss it:

Throughout the year, in different municipalities and towns of the entity, all kinds of celebrations are held, whether fairs or patron saint festivals
Dates: February 2 (Holy Jubilee), February 9 (Indigenous Wedding, Negritos and Señorío Huexotzincatl), February 16 (3rd Neighborhood) and January 26 (Turcos Zacapoaxtlas del Centro).

2025 Tamale and Atole Fair in Cholula

The municipality of San Pedro Cholula is preparing for its traditional Tamale and Atole Fair, which in 2025 will be called ‘Tamalilhuitl’, a festival held as part of the celebrations for Candlemas Day.
