This Monday, the governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, stated that as part of the agreements reached during his visit to Spain, work is already being done to achieve three new flights to connect our State with Europe.
This is about the possibility of a flight from Guadalajara to Paris, but also the possibility of opening a new option to fly from Guadalajara to London. This is thanks to the good acceptance that has been had with the Guadalajara-Madrid offer, where the flight that currently operates this route operates above 97% of its capacity, thanks to the fact that it is not only moving the people of Jalisco, but also people from nearby entities, such as Aguascalientes, Nayarit, Colima or San Luis Potosí.
This is why, said Lemus Navarro, there are already talks with two airlines: British Airways and Vueling, the economic line of Iberia, to be able to achieve these new routes.
“You don’t know how many airlines we were in talks with. And what they see is that tourists no longer want to travel to the Mexico City airport, they no longer want to touch Mexico City. What they prefer, since they know how busy the Guadalajara-Madrid flight is, is to come to the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, and they prefer to avoid the Mexico City International Airport,” said the governor of Jalisco.
There is also the proposal for a Puerto Vallarta-Madrid flight, said the state leader, with the aim of positioning this beach destination on the old continent.
“For example, what the director of Iberia told me is ‘Mr. Governor, we want to go to Guadalajara, more than to Mexico City,’ and this fills me with pride. That is why we are getting these direct flights to Puerto Vallarta as well. We are working on a Madrid-Puerto Vallarta flight, because the goal is not only that the Madrid-Guadalajara flight be full of people from Guadalajara or Colima, what we want is that now it is full of Spaniards too, because we want to bring them to our country to spend their euros,” said Lemus Navarro.
As part of the work carried out in Spain, the president said, agreements were also reached to continue adding new hotels to our Entity, and that in the next few days this information will be released, once the Secretary of Tourism, Michelle Fridman, returns.
On the other hand, added Lemus Navarro, agreements were signed with the Real Madrid Foundation to be able to establish a soccer academy in Jalisco, which will allow not only the sports development in this area in girls and boys, but also the development of talents that could be considered to play in the major soccer leagues.
“What we are working on is that the Real Madrid Foundation invests in Jalisco. They are coming on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, and we are going to have a first activation next June. But first they are going to come to see different sports facilities that we have in Jalisco, with the aim of establishing a clinic in the city of Guadalajara. We are proposing different locations that they are going to review. Yes, we want them to learn about soccer, but we also want to form human beings, for the girls and boys to have the values that many girls and boys who have gone through the Real Madrid Foundation have learned, that is what we want to bring,” concluded the state leader.
