Led by its municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, the city of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, participated in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2025, held in Madrid, Spain.

As a World Heritage City and Ambassador of Mexico to the World, it reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen the tourism sector by being part of the most important event in the industry at a global level.

“The main thing, within the framework of the International Tourism Fair, is to know the tourism trends, where the demands of the sector are going and what our competitors are doing,” said Mauricio Trejo.

He also highlighted “the alliances with other destinations that can be complementary, so we went, worked, did and returned because nobody goes on vacation.”

For four days, the San Miguel delegation headed by Mauricio Trejo, accompanied by Tania Castillo, director of Economic Development and Tourism, held international tourism promotion activities.

He met with opinion leaders, media and travel agents (mainly European) who were captivated by the history, traditions, architecture and artisan legacy that distinguish San Miguel de Allende.

Reinforcing each of the business associations that make up the tourism value chain, the following also participated in the delegation: Carlo Gallardo, as a representative of the wine sector; Francisco Aguirre, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac); Martha Roció López, representative of the romance and wedding sector; in addition to Isabela Castro from Grupo México Real, Marigel Piquent and Enrique García from the hotel and real estate sector.

FITUR allowed an exchange of ideas between tourism leaders that are trending for 2025 and the years to come, in addition to the generation of alliances with destinations that are World Heritage Cities, like San Miguel de Allende.

With the launch of the “San Miguel around the World” campaign from the Rosewood Villa Magna hotel, the heritage city recreated the essence of San Miguel through a “Pop-up” that mixes cultural wealth with Deriva Floral by artist Daniel Valero, Mexican cuisine and cocktails; extending this experience until March 9.

In San Miguel de Allende, tourism continues to be a fundamental pillar for the local economy, so much so that eight pesos and fifty cents out of every 10 come from this sector.
