Moments of terror unfolded near Plaza Las Américas in Playa del Carmen when an armed attack at a karaoke bar left several people injured and led to the arrest of two suspects.
The attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, at the “Oh La Habana” karaoke bar on Paseo Central Avenue between Chemuyi and 115 avenues, in front of Plaza Las Américas. According to local media, assailants on a motorcycle arrived at the bar, drew firearms, and began shooting repeatedly before fleeing the scene.
The exact number of injured remains unknown. Social media reports suggest four people were wounded, while local media indicate that a man and a woman were hit by bullets. The man, reportedly a security guard at the bar, was injured in the right ankle, and the woman sustained injuries to her left arm. Both were taken to a hospital for medical attention and are not seriously injured.
Local media also report that two men were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the attack.
A Municipal Police operation was implemented in the area, and elements of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE) arrived to conduct the necessary investigations.
