The American Society of Mexico (Amsoc) said that the country has proven to be a reliable partner for the United States in priority issues, such as the fight against drug trafficking and strengthening trade.

Larry Rubin, president of the organization, emphasized that the priorities of the new Donald Trump administration include strengthening security in the region, the fight against drug trafficking, immigration control and maintaining stability in bilateral trade.

“We share the importance of a relationship based on cooperation and joint strategies, and we emphasize how Mexico has proven to be a reliable partner in these issues,” said Rubin during the opening of the 85th Annual General Assembly of Amsoc.

President Sheinbaum said that in the event that the United States applies 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico, there is already a plan to respond
The executive added that the full implementation of the T-MEC, mainly in what has to do with intellectual property, will bring Mexico great fruits and the opportunity to stand out after the trade war of the northern neighbor country with China.

“It is no coincidence that one of the main reasons why the United States stopped trade with China was the lack of respect for intellectual property. Mexico has the opportunity to differentiate itself and become a reliable partner in medical, pharmaceutical and cinematographic innovation,” she said.

Rubin added that Mexico has everything to become the Hollywood of Latin America, with competitive production costs, highly trained talent, a diversity of natural and urban settings, as well as a rich cinematographic tradition.

The executive also highlighted the tourism sector in the bilateral relationship, due to the millions of Americans who visit Mexican destinations, such as beaches, every year.

In this regard, he called for improving infrastructure and security in the country’s main tourist destinations to consolidate Mexico as the most important destination in Latin America for tourists from the United States.
