Two police officers from the San Cristóbal de las Casas city council were arrested and will face criminal proceedings for the alleged crime of extortion, the State Attorney General’s Office reported.
The agents of the Municipal Security Secretariat Lorena “N” and Ismael “N”, were accused by the aggrieved Oswaldo N and Erick N of alleged extortion.
A control judge and courts of the Judicial District of San Cristóbal de las Casas resolved the arrest of both uniformed officers.
The accused were transferred to the jurisdictional body, where the legal situation of both police officers will be determined.
The arrest warrant was carried out by agents of the Attorney General’s Office, the People’s Security Secretariat and the Municipal Police of San Cristóbal de las Casas.
