Medline Industries, L.P. is an American company dedicated to the health care sector, manufacturing and distribution of medical supplies, which will invest 250 million dollars in a plant that will operate in Tamaulipas, specifically in the municipality of Nuevo Laredo.

The Secretary of Economy in Tamaulipas, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, announced that the company will be installed on a 68 thousand square meter plot of land, will generate three thousand direct jobs and another 600 indirect jobs.

What do we know about Medline Industries, L.P?

“Medline is an American company in the health care sector, specialized in manufacturing and distributing medical materials. It contributes with the design of products to improve the efficiency and productivity of operating rooms,” said Cantú Deándar.

With a presence in 125 countries and more than 100 years of history, the company began as a family business dedicated to manufacturing gowns for doctors and nurses in Illinois. Currently, it offers more than 335 thousand products and supplies 67% of all surgical operations in the United States.

The investment is relevant because it is maintained despite the climate of uncertainty generated by statements from officials of the Donald Trump government.

Recently, the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, indicated that 25% taxes would be applied on imports from Mexico and Canada starting February 1.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, indicated that the final decision on these tariffs will be made between March and April, and that they could be avoided if both countries take measures to stop the trafficking of migrants and fentanyl.

Recently, in Mexico City, the general manager of Grupo Medline, Yogesh Wadhera, and the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, met to reaffirm confidence in the installation of this plant in Tamaulipas.

During his visit, the governor toured the production lines of the plant, which has four industrial warehouses and where 1,064 employees work, including 895 operators who participate in the manufacture of televisions destined for the markets of the United States, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Panama.
