The general director of Strategy, Business Development and Major Accounts of the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance company, Steven Shai Gold, confirmed to Infobae Mexico that the six crew members of the plane that crashed in Philadelphia, United States, are Mexican.

In a communication via WhatsApp, Shai Gold indicated that the 2 pilots, a doctor, a paramedic, a pediatric patient and his mother, are Mexican.

The plane that provides air ambulance services suffered a fatal accident shortly after taking off from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, in the United States.

The aircraft, a Learjet 55 with registration XA-UCI, was transporting six people, including a child who was being treated as a pediatric patient. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, near Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue.

The plane was bound for Springfield-Branson National Airport, located in the state of Missouri. However, it failed to complete its route, crashing shortly after takeoff.

The company that owns the aircraft, Jet Rescue, confirmed the incident through a statement posted on its LinkedIn account, where it also expressed concern for the victims and their families.

In the official statement issued by the company, it was detailed that four crew members and the pediatric patient and his companion were traveling on the plane.

The company noted that, so far, it has not been possible to confirm whether there were survivors. It also reported that the names of the people involved will not be released until the relatives are notified.

“Our immediate concern is for the patient’s family, our staff, their families, and other victims who may have been injured on the ground. More information will be released as it becomes available,” the company said in its official statement.

Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the crew members on board were Mexican.

“The airline responsible for transporting the passengers of the plane that crashed in Philadelphia, United States, confirmed to the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia that six Mexican nationals were traveling on the aircraft. Personnel from the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia are in contact with relatives and will provide all the consular support and assistance required, and will be on the lookout in case there are more Mexicans affected in the vicinity of the accident.”

The FAA and local authorities are investigating the causes of the accident, although so far no additional details have been revealed about the possible reasons for the crash.

Jet Rescue, the company that owns the crashed plane, is known for offering intensive care air ambulance services. According to information provided by the company, its fleet is made up exclusively of Learjet aircraft, which are widely used in the medical field due to their speed, safety and ease of access for boarding patients.
