In Ucú, a municipality 18 kilometers northwest of Mérida, a man allegedly under the influence of drugs attacked a doctor from a pharmacy with a machete, causing injuries to his arm.
The attacker, identified as a homeless man in the community, requested clonazepam, a controlled medication. When the doctor refused, the man became enraged. The doctor ran away, but the attacker chased him, causing injuries as the doctor tried to protect himself.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that, in coordination with the Municipal Police of Ucú and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), they are investigating the incident to clarify the facts and ensure the safety of the population.
The doctor from the “San Rafael” pharmacy office, approximately 36 years old, suffered cuts to the forehead and right arm. He was treated on the spot and is reported to be in stable condition.
The aggressor, identified as C.J.C.V., aged 40, was arrested by the municipal police and handed over to the SSP for transfer. He remains at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office.
