Over 119 Million Passengers Flew on National and International Flights in 2024

In 2024, a total of 119 million 464 thousand passengers were transported on national and international flights, reflecting the strength of Mexico’s air connectivity and its tourism sector. This was announced by Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Secretary of Tourism.

According to the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), 57 million 917 thousand passengers were transported on international flights in 2024, marking a 5.8% increase from 2023 and a 20.9% increase from 2019. The main Mexican airlines for international flights were Aeroméxico and Volaris, which together transported 13 million 618 thousand passengers, an increase of 11.4% and 37.8% compared to 2023 and 2019, respectively. American Airlines and United Airlines led the US airlines, transporting 13 million 653 thousand passengers, a 5.8% increase from 2023 and a 49.4% increase from 2019.

On national flights, 61 million 547 thousand passengers were transported in 2024. Viva Aerobus and Volaris had the highest participation, together transporting 43 million 892 thousand passengers.

Rodríguez highlighted the dynamism of the aviation industry, thanking its members for their excellent service. She emphasized that aviation not only facilitates tourism but also creates jobs and boosts the local economy through tourism spending.
