After Taxco experienced acts of violence that affected its image at an international level, the president of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of this colonial city, Martín Kendrick Berger, said that foreign tourism has recovered by 50 percent.
“We have had a considerable increase in foreign tourism, approximately 50 percent, and confidence is being recovered due to the actions implemented by the three levels of government,” he said.
In an interview, he said that little by little the confidence of foreign visitors who stopped visiting the colonial city of Taxco de Alarcón due to different acts of violence that occurred last year has been recovered.

“There is a whole promotion strategy to regain the confidence of visitors and with the support of the municipality, concerts have been brought in and it has recently been strengthened with the silver fair and this is what has generated events on weekends to bring more tourism,” he said.
Kendrick Berger, also President of the Trust for the Administration of the Tax on the Provision of Lodging Services in Taxco, mentioned that the tourism that is returning is from Eastern Europe, the United States and Canada.
In a smaller percentage, tourism is arriving from Germany, France, Oceania and also from Latin America and Central America.
