People of sexual and gender diversity will have the opportunity to complete their studies and enter the formal workforce in Guanajuato, said Ricardo García Frausto, state undersecretary for Sexual and Gender Diversity.

Ricardo García highlighted that, for example, the percentage of trans people in the registry of the Mexican Social Security Institute is almost zero, so with the signing of an agreement with INAEBA, they will find those who have been displaced from schools due to discrimination to offer them new opportunities.

Previously, trans people were discriminated against and the process of modifying their records required legal protection, now the LGBTQ+ community is supported, said the activist for the rights of sexual and gender diversity

“Within the populations of sexual and gender diversity, those who meet more criteria that meet the prejudices they generate, strengthen discrimination, because they are trans people and the percentage of trans people in the IMSS registry is almost zero, which shows the formality of labor benefits, that is, the economic activity of trans people is governed by informality.”

He explained that the agreement signed by the Undersecretariat of Sexual and Gender Diversity has the objective of reaching out to the sector of the population that needs it so they can complete their studies, the point of contact will be through the same undersecretariat through social networks.

“Because we have not been able to structurally eradicate this discrimination at a national level, which has limited people with non-normative identities from being hired in the formal sector, due to this identification that we have in the State Government’s Human Rights Secretariat, in the Undersecretariat of Sexual and Gender Diversity we signed an agreement with INAEBA.

He explained that the priority objective is first to detect groups of people with adult trans identities who, due to systematic and structural discrimination, have made it difficult to obtain a certificate of basic education, upper secondary education, or even a university degree.

“It represents that they can have this second opportunity in life to obtain that certificate of the degree in which they have been pending and that this, without a doubt, represents a higher quality of life for them, from becoming literate for those who have not achieved it or formalizing, the certificate of the corresponding level that allows them to access better jobs.”
