A week after the arrest of two police officers from the so-called Coordinated Police of Bahía de Banderas, which operates with a municipal element and a State Police element, was made public, more details of the events have emerged.

It has been revealed that both police officers deprived the victims of their freedom and then attacked them with “cintarazos”, as the assault with a belt is colloquially known.

This was specified by the mayor of Bahía de Banderas, Héctor Santana García, in a press conference, in which he added that the arrest of the officers was carried out by the municipal police itself, while the investigation file was being put together at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to prevent them from fleeing after the citizen’s complaint.

It is known that the events would have occurred in mid-January and that, at the time of the arrest, the officers were still active.

“It already happened with a municipal element together with the coordinated police, a state police officer with a municipal police officer assaulted a person, they beat him with ribbons, they deprived him of his freedom, situations that fall under a criminal type (…)”

“We arrested him, he was in the municipal police, in the municipal jail, while the file was being set up in the Public Ministry and with that we prevented them from escaping,” revealed Santana García.

Both elements, identified as Jonathan Aarón “N” and Luis Ángel “N”, are accused of illegal deprivation of liberty, qualified injuries and abuse of authority to the detriment of two people whose identities remain reserved. It is known that among the victims there is a woman; however, her connection to the process has not been disclosed.

It is worth mentioning that this case has put the corporation in check, which has been subjected to courses on awareness and anger management.
