In Durango, the free marriage program called ‘Uniting Hearts’ is underway.
Users of the program will have the benefit of formalizing their union without having to pay for the process that normally costs approximately 4 thousand pesos, but through the campaign the state authorities absorb it with the purpose of citizens allocating this resource for the benefit of their family.
Raúl Meraz Ramírez, undersecretary general of Government in the Laguna Region of Durango, mentioned that all the State policies are focused on the family, on the human being, on women and children.
“There are many couples who got together and perhaps left the civil union for later, perhaps for economic reasons, for time reasons, because the dream was to do something bigger, and today after years we have older adults, with children, with grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who never married and it is important to give the legal certainty of marriage to all families,” he added.
The goal is more than a thousand couples in La Laguna alone
In Durango, the goal is to exceed the formalization of 4 thousand couples, of which in the municipalities of La Laguna it corresponds to approximately 35%, which are 1,400 couples.
“Today we want couples to go to the civil registry so that they do not have to go to an event, or make unnecessary expenses that the citizens do not enjoy later, rather the governor and his wife have decided to absorb the cost of the marriages, of the certificates, but also to give a gift to all the people who decide to get married for their home.”
The strategy has been implemented for two years, and in the first editions, 7 thousand marriages have been made official, which also contributes to legitimizing the children.
