High parking prices in Puerto Vallarta affect tourism

The lack of parking spaces in the public area in the heart of Puerto Vallarta is one of the biggest problems that the city has and, because of this situation, locals and tourists have to resort to concessioned parking lots, which are abused with excessive rates and are not regulated by any authority.

Specifically, the parking lot at Parque Hidalgo and the Juárez parking lot are the ones that are pointed out, as they charge 40 pesos per hour to each vehicle that enters.

This rate has grown significantly in recent months, as previously the charge was 24 pesos per hour and has risen 16 pesos in less than 2 years.

In addition, for people who enter their vehicles in these parking lots there is no guarantee of safety, as they establish in their policies that if there is any damage to the vehicles they will not be held responsible, despite the fact that they charge high amounts to protect the vehicles.

This situation has generated annoyance among visitors, who in a matter of six or seven hours spend more than 300 pesos just for parking.

To date, there has been no information as to when the concessions for these parking lots will end or if they will be extended, which is why the affected people are asking for greater control over the rates, so that the owners of these concessions do not abuse the citizens.
