Residents of Kanasín, Yucatán, prevented a potential lynching by detaining and tying a young man to a tree after he was seen jumping between rooftops.

Neighbors observed a man jumping between the roofs of several houses. After getting him down, they detained him and tied him to a tree.

Municipal police arrived at the scene, finding a sharp object, lighters, and what appeared to be marijuana. The young man was taken into custody.

On the same night, residents of the Mulsay neighborhood detained an alleged thief who, in his attempt to escape, broke into an abandoned house. Residents claimed this was not the first time the suspect had been seen in the area and accused him of attempting to steal.

The suspect was handed over to authorities with a warning that if he returns, they will take drastic measures.

These incidents highlight growing community concerns about crime and the measures residents are willing to take to protect their neighborhoods.
