The government of Solidaridad, through the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts (IMCAS), is set to organize the First International Theater Festival from March 17 to 23, supported by municipal president Estefanía Mercado.

Santiago Ernesto Martínez Cuéllar, general director of IMCAS, explained that the festival aims to connect artists and cultural managers with a seminar led by industry professionals. Additionally, residents of Playa del Carmen and tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy high-level performances featuring national and international actors.

A call for participation has been issued, inviting residents of Quintana Roo to present their stage proposals. Selected participants, chosen by a jury, will perform at the festival, which will be held at the School of Artistic Initiation in Bellavista and the City Theater. The registration deadline is February 10.

“We are committed to bringing prosperity to citizens through culture for all. This festival should be the starting point for Playa del Carmen to be recognized step by step as a cultural destination at an international level,” said Martínez Cuéllar.

The festival promises to be a significant cultural event, enhancing Solidaridad’s status as a vibrant hub for the arts.
