During these arrests, it has been revealed that members of the various levels of government are allegedly colluding with the Sinaloa Cartel, the Chiapas Cartel and Guatemala, in the latter case it was revealed that there is a relationship with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel within the state.
In light of the situation, the Attorney General of Chiapas, Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca, declared that “many of them (municipal police) have been infiltrated by criminals.” In addition, there are approximately eight localities that have reported the arrest of state agents, among them Tuxtla Gutiérrez, San Cristóbal de las Casas and Chiapa de Corzo.
It is important to note that, during this time, the State Attorney General’s Office itself has declared that they have not managed to arrest any of the leaders who are in charge of these organizations.
