Don Pedro was the owner of “La Palmilla”, a mine that produced gold and silver. Unfortunately, Mrs. Virginia died in 1905, a year before the furnishing and decoration of her residence was finished. Don Pedro remained a widower until his death in 1937. This emblematic building was converted into the Palacio Alvarado Museum and Cultural Center, and is popularly known as the “Palace of Love” for the story of love and dedication that Don Pedro kept for his late wife, until his last breath.
