The head of the Ministry of Mobility (Semovi), Yesenia Nolasco Ramírez, together with the Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands in Mexico, Yvonne Ruijters, inaugurated the workshop “Active training Oaxaca”, which seeks to create a reflection and analysis on pedestrian and bicycle mobility for the most vulnerable users.
This training, given at the Government Palace, unites the efforts of Semovi and the Dutch Embassy, to promote public policies of sustainable mobility that guarantee respect, equal opportunities and free access to people who use this means of transport.
This meeting was attended by municipal authorities and representatives of cycling groups, who were instructed for two days on topics of urban planning, cycling infrastructure and intermodality (bicycle-public transport).
Nolasco Ramírez explained that this workshop, in which Adrián Puentes and Roberto Ascencio, international trainers and experts on the topic of active mobility, participated; will help visualize and carry out projects that guarantee the safe mobility of Oaxacans.
“This exercise is dedicated to the design of comprehensive solutions for more efficient, safe and sustainable mobility in Oaxaca,” he said.
In this sense, the study of two local routes was developed: the connection between the Parque Primavera Oaxaqueña Cho Ndobá and the Historic Center of the state capital; as well as an intermodality pilot on route RC02 of the Metropolitan Collective Transportation System Binnibus (formerly CityBus); which will encourage active mobility.
To conclude this training, a bicycle tour was carried out to undertake the established proposals.
