A criminal group identified with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, deprived of their freedom at the beginning of this month of February, the mayor of Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, Jaime Cruz Villalpando, and two other officials of the city council, who presented themselves before the criminal cell, in exchange for releasing their son, previously deprived of his freedom.

On Saturday night, the wife of the mayor and president of the DIF, Brenda Marisol Montañez Saucedo, was kidnapped by the same cartel, which demands from the mayor, among other things, the dismissal of the Secretary of Public Security.

The recount of the events

In the early hours of February 4, a series of banners with threats against the show entrepreneur, who was taking the presentation of the singer Oscar Maydon, to the arena, were placed in different points of the city of Aguascalientes.

The criminal group that claimed responsibility for the narco-banners was led by a subject nicknamed “El Charro,” identified by federal security authorities as the lieutenant of the CJNG in the state of Aguascalientes.

This led to the cancellation of the concert by the corrido singer, who mentioned in a video:

“Old people, I just want to clarify an issue and explain to you. I think my fans deserve a message and tell them that we are fine, that everything is fine with Oscar Maydon, (the threats) were a clash between plazas and businessmen, I don’t know, we don’t want anything to happen and if the Aguascalientes concert was cancelled, it was for the good of everyone, so, I just want you to separate those news there, the yellow people who (say that) Oscar Maydon (is) related to drug trafficking. Thank God the narco-banner was not for us, but here we are coming out to clarify things, my fans; We are all well, we are working; we are in the studio; I send you a hug and I hope to see you soon

Investigations indicate that Sebastián Cruz, the promoter of the event, singer, and son of the mayor of Villa Hidalgo, went that night to Tepatitlán, Jalisco, where he was summoned to supposedly resolve the issue of the banners directed against him.

Mayor of Villa Hidalgo receives kidnapping threat against his son
Hours later, the municipal president of Villa Hidalgo and father of Sebastián, Jaime Cruz, of Movimiento Ciudadano, received a call from the kidnappers, in which they inform him that they have his son.

In the telephone conversation, to which this media outlet had access, they demand that he show up, “to fix the problem” which, they say, is with him.

In the recording, of just over 13 minutes, the mayor of Jalisco reiterates to El Charro that he and his family are working people who have never been related to organized crime.

“We are men of work; men of dedication; we dedicate ourselves to working day and night; we don’t get involved with anything or anyone, thank God… I’m not involved with anything or anyone, I swear.”

“What we want, more than anything, is for us to come to an agreement and a conversation that doesn’t affect you and that doesn’t affect us,” says El Charro, who after several minutes and after putting the mayor’s son on the phone, manages to persuade him to meet with them.

In the phone call, the mayor proposes to the criminal leader that they meet in Aguascalientes, a city located no more than 15 minutes from his municipality, Villa Hidalgo, so, in the end, the subject agrees.

Cruz Villalpando faces new threats from the CJNG after the kidnapping of his family

The reports mention that Cruz Villalpando was summoned that same February 5, at 6 pm, in a cafeteria in Aguascalientes, where he went with two other officials from the city council and from where they were taken by armed men to a safe house in Tepatitlán, Jalisco.

In the investigations, it was established that the mayor is confronted by someone who identified himself as the boss of the plaza, who clarifies that the banners, as well as his kidnapping and that of his son are not due to the singer’s presentation at the palenque.

In the complaint filed, it is stated that the criminal leader holds him responsible for allegedly having ties to an antagonistic criminal group and that his demand, among others, is the immediate dismissal of the Municipal Public Security Secretary and the appointment of one, appointed by his cartel.

“The mayor agreed, freeing them and escorting them to La Joya, Jalisco, and everyone (the son, the mayor and officials) returned to Villa Hidalgo,” the ministerial report from Aguascalientes states.

The sources consulted reported that, as a result, Sebastián Cruz, businessman, singer and son of the mayor, had to flee to the United States, for his safety.

They revealed that last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the mayor of the MC, “was receiving calls, demanding that he dismiss the secretary (of Public Security), to which he gave them the runaround, without dismissing him until today; and later they called him to let him know that they deprived his wife of her freedom.”

The complaint states that last night, Saturday, Brenda Marisol Montañez Saucedo, president of the municipal DIF and wife of the mayor, was deprived of her liberty by an armed group, when leaving a residential area in Aguascalientes.

This is the Ruscello residential area, located on Eugenio Garza Sada Avenue, in Jesús María, Aguascalientes, from where they also took a neighbor from that place, along with the wife of the municipal president.

The ministerial authorities were aware of a call that the criminal group made to Mayor Jaime Cruz, where they put his wife on the phone, who mentioned that “he was fine.”

In the call, the cartel reiterated its demands, seeking the advance of its troops to that municipality of Villa Hidalgo, known for its textile industry.

The ministerial authorities confirmed that the family of the other victim, deprived of liberty along with the wife of the mayor, have also filed a complaint.

Federal security authorities identified El Charro as the CJNG’s top lieutenant and a generator of violence in the state of Aguascalientes.

El Charro, head of the CJNGA elite group “Fuerzas Especiales Cha”, claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and murder of Aguascalientes businessman Ricardo Rodríguez Zamora on January 30.
