This Monday, the Interinstitutional Working Group of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro was held in Durango, with the purpose of coordinating technical, financial, legal and social efforts for the management of the 19 sites that make up this historical route in Durango.

Camino Real de Tierra Adentro is a route that starts in Mexico and reaches the United States and has witnessed the crossing of people, traditions and resources for more than 300 years.

A third of the 60 sites that make up this are located in the state. In order to preserve and promote these sites, the state government will invest one million pesos to complete the comprehensive management plan for these spaces, allowing the development of tourism, social and economic projects.

Likewise, the government of Durango and the municipalities will have the opportunity to combine resources to finance cultural and infrastructure projects. A fund of 500 thousand pesos will be allocated to support initiatives in dance, music and other minor interventions in the historical sites.

The Secretary of Tourism, Elisa Haro, emphasized the importance of developing cultural tourism around this heritage, highlighting that rural and community tourism is becoming increasingly important.

She also announced that her department will contribute an additional 500,000 pesos, creating a joint fund of one million pesos, to promote these projects.

The work table included presentations on the Management and Administration Plan of the 19 sites of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro in Durango, followed by discussion tables on Urban Development and Construction, as well as Tourism and Culture, where various proposals were shared for the conservation and promotion of this invaluable heritage.
