Raúl Uribe, representative of Uribe Ingenieros, announced that the tidal energy project in Cozumel is progressing well and is expected to be completed by August or September. The project aims to generate electricity by harnessing the movement of tides.

Uribe emphasized the importance of utilizing natural resources such as water for clean energy generation. The project involves deploying a submarine equipped with four turbines to take advantage of the constant water flow in the Cozumel and Riviera Maya seas. The submarine will be placed 82 meters deep to avoid disturbing marine life like dolphins and sharks.

Extensive pilot tests have already been conducted, and once activated, the project will become the first of its kind in Mexico and possibly the fifth worldwide. Uribe highlighted their 40 years of experience in the state, focusing on sustainable use of natural resources.

Uribe Ingenieros specializes in electromechanical installations both nationally and internationally. The company has a presence in Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the United Arab Emirates. They have worked on notable projects, including the Burj Khalifa and the Mitikah Tower in Mexico City.

The company has built 27,000 hotel rooms in Quintana Roo and is currently constructing a new hotel in Cancun with 3,000 rooms, called Grand Island. Uribe emphasized their long-standing commitment to sustainable and innovative hotel construction.
