During 2024, Expo Guadalajara established itself as the most important fairground in the country by reaching a “historic” economic spillover of 47,533 million pesos, a figure that represented an increase of 30% compared to the 36,750 million pesos of 2023, reported its president, Luis Isaías Salazar.
“The economic spillover generated last year is the highest since records have been kept… These figures reaffirm Expo Guadalajara as an international benchmark for the meetings industry and also contributed to the development of the city and the state,” stressed Salazar Ramírez.
During his first bi-monthly press conference, the president of the Expo Guadalajara Technical Committee indicated that last year, the fairground hosted 564 events, of which 79 were exhibitions, 30 congresses and 455 corporate events, totaling 17,020 exhibitors and 1.8 million visitors.
The figures, Salazar mentioned, were collected by the Technological Observatory of the University Center for Economic-Administrative Sciences (CUCEA) of the University of Guadalajara, the institution responsible for obtaining data from both organizing committees and exhibitors and visitors at each event.
Anticipates National Industrial Fair
The president of Expo Guadalajara, highlighted that another of the factors that made 2024 “a historic year” for the institution, was the fact of having organized its first own event, the Jalisco Industrial Fair (FEINJAL), which had 278 stands, 400 brands, 1,485 business meetings and 5,824 visitors, in addition to generating an economic spillover of 222 million pesos.
Based on the results, the president of the Expo Technical Committee foresees that this industrial fair could be held biannually, and anticipated that in the 2026 edition it could grow to a national exhibition.
“We are thinking that it might be worthwhile to hold a FEIMEX, a Mexican industry fair to take advantage of nearshoring and make known to the world everything that is manufactured in our country and there could be a huge pavilion related to Jalisco, with the 125 municipalities represented,” he explained.
Mexico Hospitality Expo
For this year, Salazar said, Expo Guadalajara will hold its second event focused on the HORECA sector (Hotels, restaurants and cafes), in alliance with FIRA Barcelona – one of the most important venues and event organizers in Europe – from May 6 to 8.
“This 2025 we are going for the second event organized by Expo Guadalajara, ‘Mexico Hospitality Expo Powered by Hostelco’ which will be from May 6 to 8, will have more than 300 exhibitors and more than 6,000 visitors from Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean,” he explained.
